What Other People Buy at The Supermarket

At about 1 PM on a Thursday afternoon I was standing in the express lane at my neighborhood supermarket and I couldn’t help but notice the strange order the man ahead of me was buying. He was buying no less than 9 cases of Fiji Water, 13 loaves of white bread and 20 pounds of margarine! That’s it.

Ok, first of all, isn’t the express lane 15 items or less, not 15 different items or less? The girl at the checkout didn’t complain, and just trusted the numbers the man gave her to expedite the checkout process. The total was about $118.

The man was wearing a light blue polo shirt embroidered with the logo of a mandarin restaurant across the street from the store. SKETCH. I certainly don’t see bread and butter being the daily lunch special. All I could imagine is the dishwashers working minimum wage and being fed margarine smothered white bread… like prison.

Now I’m not making any accusations here, this is just my imagination running wild… but still, weirded out.

Hilarious!!! I live right by TWO grocery stores. Since I get my produce at the farmer’s market, I always worry that people are judging me on what I buy at the regular store.

  2. I love grocery spying!

The other day I saw two women buying two huge packs of arrowroot cookies and a huge stick of lard (or something) that had 3 grams of trans fat per 2 teaspoons. It was weird and scary.

I also once saw a man buy about 12 litres of pop and 20 1 litre cans of pork and beans.
