Journey to T-gives 2009

I'm Back on the Blog!

Holland, MI

I would say It feels like just yesterday that I was prepping for T-gives 2008, but really it feels like it was forever ago. Yet at the same time, the past year has gone by so very quickly. I have been quite busy with work (fortunately!), and therefore I have been not so busy with my blogging duties.

Never fear, the approaching holiday season has put me back into a mood for blogging. As have three good things that have happened to my blog in the last week.

Number one, my T-gives 2008 “tablescape” (if you will), was featured on Apartment Therapy.

Setting the T-Gives Table

Some decorations and photo magic somehow make the dining room of my cheap Los Angeles apartment look classy enough to hold it’s own against some stunning T-gives stylings!

Honestly, my table doesn’t always look so glamorous. It’s usually a mess, as is my kitchen! But I kind of like it that way; it’s evidence that my passion of food ignores time constraints, while my disinterest in cleaning acknowledges my interest in sleeping.

Every Week

As expected, both my kitchen and dining room were quite the mess as I left for the airport at 4am last Friday. I’m off on a two week vacation, currently visiting friends and family in Michigan, followed next week by Chicago, DC, NYC and Maine.

Which brings me to the second good thing. I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year on a farm in Maine! Needless to say, I’m excited.

And the third good thing? Foodbuzz also believes that my Thanksgiving plans are noteworthy, as they accepted my proposal for this months 24, 24, 24.

I will be flying into Maine Wednesday morning and heading straight to the Portland Farmer’s Market. I don’t have the menu figured out yet, and I don’t know what ingredients I will find in Maine that will inspire this meal.

What I do know that there will be a fresh-plucked turkey raised on said farm waiting for me. I know some of my dear friends from Michigan will be road-tripping to Maine to join me for this meal, and I know that I will have plenty to be thankful for at this year’s T-gives.

It seriously sounds like an awesome Tgiving. If you were going to be in LA, I would try and finagle and invite. Have a blast!!
